Porn Love : Top of 2011 lists + New Comics in 2012 by Noah Van Sciver!

We just got a new shipment of Sharon Lintz' Pornhounds 2 in from the printer -- so current and recent orders, prepared to be filled! And apologies on any lag time.

In case you missed it, Pornhounds 2 got some nice accolades over at High-Low, making the list for the Top 15 Comics of 2011! Booyah! Head over to the 2DC shop and pick it up (scroll down a bit), it's brilliant stuff!

And on the TCJ site we have another comic list, again put together by Rob Clough. This one with Noah Van Sciver's The Death of Elijah Lovejoy coming in at #8 for Top 30 Mini Comics of 2011! Above is one of the super rad cover miss-prints -- you do recall that Zak Sally printed this puppy on his press? This is a killer mini, made by hand by Zak at La Mano. If you haven't picked it up yet you owe it to yourself to do so now (it's in our online shop, scroll down to the mini's)! It's a tasty adjunct to The Hypo.

Speaking of that Noah Van Sciver chap, check his blog for peek at a newspaper split we will publishing later in the year, featuring him and Nic Breutzman! It's going to be called The Mayfly & The Cow's Head. Really excited for it too!

Valentine's Day, Little Hearts, and Pornhounds too

Welp, happy Valentines day folks! If you are looking for something fitting to get that special someone, I have 2 recommendation for yah.

1: Why not pre-order a comic anthology on marriage equality? This vid/montage is for Little Heart, a kickstarter project that happens to be another one that I am involved with. The project itself was created in partnership with local non-profit [MN]Love. Their creative director, Simon Stromberg got that ball rolling for this project to happen. Music is by the multi talented Dan Moyer.

2: Why not pick up a copy of Pornhounds 2 by the brilliant Sharon Lintz and various artists, including killer work by 2DC favorite Nic Breutzman. Say, did I mention that Pornhounds 2 made it into the Top 15 Comics of 2011 over on High-Low via Rob Clough? Well, it did. Nice! You can pick that book up in the shop, just scroll down a bit.

Some of our fav cartoonists are on that same list: Noah Van Sciver, Gilbert and Jaime Hernandez, Julia Gfrörer, Tessa Brunton and many other amazing cartoonists -- go check it out yourself!

Anna Bongiovanni had her self-published comic, The Offering recently reviewed over at 13 minutes. From the review:  "I like to imagine The Offering as a softer version of Julia Gfrorer’s Flesh & Bone, which was one of the best books I read last year. It has that same sort of flickering line weight, this rustic quality that reverberates with kinetic potential."  -- Justin Giampaoli

In the fall we will be publishing Out of Hollow Water by Anna Bongiovanni, which will collect some of her past work and some new stuff as well. Really really excited for that book! 

Pornhounds 2 reviewed on TCJ

"The comic kicks into high gear with “Daily Office Life” and “Photo Meetings”, the two chapters illustrated by up-and-coming cartoonist Breutzman. He captures both the sleaze and the quotidian dullness of office life as described by Lintz, though porn provides a number of hilarious but incidental laughs. (Lintz’ idea for a porn based on The Crying of Lot 49 made me laugh out loud, but not as much as the bizarre tattoo found on one naked actor in an orgy scene.)"  -- Rob Clough, TCJ

Sharon Lintz' Pornhounds 2 was just reviewed on The Comics Journal by Rob Clough! Quick, go read the review and if it looks to be your cup o tea, come back to our shop. It is a damn amazing comic; humor, humanity, Videodrome horror/sci-fi; all wrapped up in an autobio floppy. And sorry kiddies, this is a comic for mature audiences.

Pornhounds 2 review on Exquisite Things; ALSO, made it into the Top Ten Comics of 2011!

Sharon Lintz' Pornhounds 2 was recently reviewed across the pond at Exquisite Things by Matt Dick. It also made it into there Top Ten Comics of 2011 list as well (and at #3!). None too shabby! Sharon is brilliant, and the cover of Pornhounds 2 is gorgeous and provocative. It puts me in mind of that Otto Dix painting, Little Girl. If the work on the cover looks familiar, it is probably because Nic Breutzman did it. He also has two stories/chapters he illustrated inside the book.

If this sounds like something you would be down with, why don't you head to the shop and pick it up! And while your at it, check out the Pornhounds website for a lot or really interesting stuff, like the letters!!

Things You Carry reviewed! Breutzman interviewed + a NVS studio peek!

Things You Carry by Vincent Stall, got its first review earlier in the week. It's a really sharp and perceptive review, well-thought out -- and really, what more could one ask for?

A week or two back Nic Breutzman was interviewed by Lauren Peck of Metro Magazine. Nic talks about living in NY vs MN, comics that he is interested in, etc. It's a nice quick read. Nic's most current work is in Pornhounds 2 (written by Sharon Lintz) and Motherlover. Both books are in the shop!

PICTURES: Noah Van Sciver was recently featured on the Where They Draw tumblr curated by Jordan Shiveley. There is a peek at his workspace, The Hypo, and other doodles and comics. Neat stuff!

Best American Comics Notables: Nicholas Breutzman

Nic Breutzman, as you may recall, has two stories in Motherlover; Photograph and You Can't be Here. The latter of which was recently selected as a Best American Comics 2011 Notable! Woohoo! He was also recently featured in Metro Magazine with an exclusive comic focusing a bit on Saint Paul! Go check it out!

That comic sorta ties into a new book that Nic has been beavering away on for the past two years or so. We will begin serializing it online early next year. More on that later. If you would like a peek, the first nine or so pages were previewed and featured on MPLS.TV a month or two back. The image at top is from said book. And if it isn't obvious, I colored 'dem pages.
